Dear ASRTI Members, Aviation Colleagues, Family and Friends, 🥖 ₦107 CANNOT BUY YOU A LOAF OF BREAD, BUT IT COULD MAKE A DIFFERENCE WHEN AN UNEXPECTED MEDICAL EMERGENCY STRIKES! Think about it: ₦107 may seem insignificant in today's economy. It cannot buy you a loaf of bread, yet that is approximately what ₦39,000 per annum works out to per day. When an unexpected medical incident occurs, the challenge is often not just getting treatment, but finding the money to pay for it out of your own pocket. A sudden illness, an accident or an unexpected hospital visit can place an enormous burden on personal and family finances. Health insurance helps you prepare for these uncertainties before they happen, reducing the financial impact of eligible medical expenses. 🏥 WHY CONSIDER HEALTH INSURANCE? ✅ Affordable healthcare protection: Access eligible healthcare services without having to bear every covered expense entirely out of pocket. ✅ Financial peace of mind: Reduce the risk of unexpected, covered medical bills becoming a major financial burden. ✅ Professional management: Healthcare services are coordinated through reputable Health Maintenance Organisations (HMOs), subject to the applicable plan. ✅ Access to healthcare providers: Depending on the plan, receive care through designated hospitals, clinics and other approved healthcare providers within the HMO network. ✅ Protect your loved ones, wherever they live in Nigeria: As an ASRTI member, you can help extend healthcare protection to family members across the country — your parents, brothers and sisters, spouse, children and other relatives. You can also help protect your employees by facilitating their applications. Your family does not have to live in the same city or state as you to benefit from this opportunity, subject to the plan's eligibility and enrolment conditions. Imagine the peace of mind of knowing that you have taken steps to help your elderly parents, your siblings living in another state, or even the people who work for you prepare for unexpected medical needs. ✅ Plan ahead: Do not wait until illness strikes before thinking about how to pay for medical care. 💰 THE COST: JUST ₦39,000 PER PERSON PER ANNUM That is approximately ₦107 per day. You may barely notice ₦107 in your daily spending, but when an unexpected medical incident occurs and you have to pay for treatment out of pocket, having appropriate health insurance can make a meaningful difference. 📝 HOW TO APPLY Applications can ONLY be initiated by registered ASRTI members through their member consoles on the ASRTI website. 🌐 Visit: https://asrti.org.ng/ 1️⃣ ASRTI members should log in to their member consoles. 2️⃣ Access the available NHIA health insurance application process. 3️⃣ Apply for yourself or assist eligible family members, friends and employees with their applications. If you are not an ASRTI member but wish to enrol, please contact an ASRTI member for assistance. Coverage, benefits, participating healthcare providers, exclusions and other conditions are subject to the applicable plan and HMO terms. 📣 DON'T WAIT UNTIL YOU NEED MEDICAL CARE TO START THINKING ABOUT HOW TO PAY FOR IT! We cannot predict when we may fall ill, but we can take steps to prepare for the unexpected. ₦107 may not buy you a loaf of bread today, but investing in appropriate health insurance could help you and the people who depend on you face tomorrow's medical needs with greater financial confidence. Protect yourself. Protect your parents. Protect your siblings. Protect your employees. Extend the opportunity to your family and friends across Nigeria. 💙 ₦39,000 PER ANNUM — A PRACTICAL STEP TOWARDS GREATER HEALTHCARE SECURITY. 🌐 https://asrti.org.ng/ ASRTI — Your Community. Maintenance, repair and overhaul

Building strong indigenous MRO capability, so Nigerian and regional fleets are maintained at home by facilities that are certified, capable and commercially viable.

ASRTI's position aligns with the push for strong indigenous MRO capability, rather than relying predominantly on foreign facilities. The organisation has previously identified MRO as a critical component of a viable aviation industry, and the current development of facilities such as the Air Peace MRO is significant in this regard. However, the emphasis should be on facilities that are commercially viable, properly certified, technically capable and able to serve both Nigerian and regional fleets.

A grave injustice: ASRTI urges immediate payment for defunct Nigeria Airways workers, laments tragic loss of lives

ASRTI calls for the entitlements of over 4,000 former staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways to be paid without further delay, and for officials responsible for stalling them to be held to account.

The Aviation Safety Round Table Initiative (ASRTI) is outraged at the continued delay in paying the entitlements of over 4,000 former staff of the defunct Nigeria Airways Limited, who are being tossed back and forth through bureaucratic red tape: a grave injustice to patriots who dedicated the best years of their lives to serving their fatherland. Nigeria Airways was never a private enterprise; it was the proud national carrier and a symbol of our collective sovereignty. The men and women who worked there were dedicated professionals who served with unwavering zeal, trusting that the nation they built would care for them in their golden years. Instead, they have been subjected to over two decades of agonising neglect following the airline's abrupt liquidation in April 2003. The human cost of this delay is a national tragedy and a bad omen to citizens currently serving Nigeria dedicatedly. It is uninspiring to see hundreds of elderly beneficiaries dying from age-related illnesses and preventable health complications, struggling with hypertension, diabetes and basic penury. These senior citizens could have lived dignified lives if their rightful benefits had been paid on time. It will be recalled that in December 2025, the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Olorogun Festus Keyamo (SAN), announced at the celebration of 100 Years of Civil Aviation in Nigeria that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, had approved the payment of the entitlements of ex-Nigeria Airways staff and forwarded it to the Ministry of Finance for implementation. The administrative negligence and sabotage of the President's sincerity of purpose is unacceptable. It is heartwarming to hear that the reportedly missing presidential approval document has been traced; it should be acted upon forthwith. Officials responsible for this stalling, sabotage or misplacement should be held accountable under the appropriate public service regulations. While we commend the efforts of the Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, we appeal to him to liaise urgently with the Minister of Finance and the relevant authorities to make these payments without further delay. These veterans served Nigeria and gave it the better part of their youthful years. To reward their decades of patriotic service with avoidable suffering and administrative ping-pong is a stain on our national conscience that must be corrected immediately.
